“Sometimes magic is just someone spending more time on something than anyone else might reasonably expect.” — Raymond Joseph Teller

Hey AINYF Community,

Raymond Joseph Teller’s (half of the legendary magical group, Penn & Teller) quote about the importance of tenacity and the “magic” of just not giving up is profound.

So many times in life, the difference between those who are super successful and those who never achieve anything of significance in life is that the successful person just refused to give up.

That’s it.

They weren’t smarter. They didn’t have better genes. They weren’t naturally more talented.

They just decided they were going to keep going when the average person would’ve tapped out long before.

This is often one of the “secrets” of life.

There are so many times that things will not go our way.

It’s the nature of the world.

Anything that is worth something is typically going to be difficult.

It it weren’t, then most people would do amazing, hard things.

However, that’s just not the case and the majority of people have a tendency to give up or just move on to something else once something gets a little tough.

This creates a HUGE advantage to those individuals who are willing to stick something out and refuse to give up despite all signs that might be encouraging them to do so.

Just sticking with something goes a LONG way.

So the next time you find yourself thinking about taking the easy way out and giving up on yourself when facing a difficult challenge, think about the “magic” you might be able to create by refusing to do so.

AINYF TOP CONTENT OF THE WEEK

As always, we had a lot of great articles this week submitted by our group of talented contributors and writers on Medium in general.

This week’s top articles are:

Janet GourandWhy Older People Are Drinking More… (While more and more data is coming out explaining how younger people are drinking less today than before, we are now starting to hear about this being the inverse for the older population. Janet’s article shines a light on this, as she explore nine reasons why she thinks this might be the case. Interesting 8-minute read.)

Sarah SandidgeWomen Can Kill Themselves Just as Fast as Men Can (Sarah’s title is a bit tongue in cheek, as she isn’t celebrating this, but is instead warning women to help them understand that they are actually at a GREATER risk than men in a number of different areas as it relates to drinking. The media and generally society doesn’t explain this very well but the science does. Enlightening 4-minute read.)

Most writers love reading comments, so please let the authors know what you think and give them some 👏 love (up to 50) if you can.
